INSIDE KABUL is a short animated film project that follows the parallel destinies of two young Afghan women, Raha and Marwa, since Kabul was taken by the Taliban. We acompanie each of them in the first year under Taliban rule with Raha staying home in Kabul and Marwa fleeing and ultimately finding herself in a refugee camp in Abu Dhabi. While tracking both young women we see them face the difficulties and challenges of being in their 20’s. For Raha and Marwa, whose world was abruptly turned upside down in the summer of 2021, coming of age stories, questions of independence, liberty, womanhood, whilst normal for young women of their age, take on a particular poignancy.
